Functional Description

IC3600QOXC1C is a Speed Control Sensor Card developed by GE. It is a part of Mark I and II control system. It is designed to detect and monitor the speed of the turbine and provide essential feedback to the control system, ensuring reliable operation and safety.

Features

  • Frequency-Based Speed Detection: The card measures the turbine’s speed by detecting a frequency signal that is proportional to the turbine's rotational speed. This frequency is received between the IN (input) and ACOM (common) pins on the card. As the turbine's speed changes, the frequency signal fluctuates, providing real-time data to the control system.
  • Trip Outputs (TRP1 and TRP2): The card includes outputs TRP1 and TRP2, which are designed to send a "1" signal when the turbine speed falls below predetermined thresholds during either acceleration or deceleration. Thresholds:
    • On Acceleration: The output will be activated if the input frequency drops below approximately 97 Hz.
    • On Deceleration: The output will activate if the frequency falls below approximately 4% of the nominal operating frequency.
  • Primary Trip Function: The primary purpose of the card is to generate a trip signal when the turbine operates below a predefined speed. The card ensures that the turbine does not operate outside safe speed limits, triggering an emergency shutdown or alert if the speed deviates from acceptable values.
  • Latching Circuit: A latching circuit is integrated into the card to hold the trip indication signal on output TPL even after the turbine speed returns to normal, effectively locking the trip signal. This latching feature ensures that once a speed-related fault is detected, it remains acknowledged by the control system until manually cleared.
  • Inhibition of Latching Circuit: The latching circuit can be inhibited (disabled) by a signal of 0 at inputs 4 and 14HM, allowing for temporary bypass or reset of the latch for specific operational conditions or troubleshooting purposes.
  • Manual Reset (Push-Button): The push-button located on the front of the card is used to manually clear the latched trip indication. This feature ensures that once the trip condition is resolved (e.g., the turbine speed returns to normal), the operator can reset the system and resume normal operation.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is IC3600QOXC1C?
It is a Speed Control Sensor Card developed by GE.

Can the latching circuit be disabled?
Yes, the latching circuit can be disabled by applying a 0 signal to the inputs 4 and 14HM. This temporarily inhibits the latch, allowing for specific operational conditions or troubleshooting.

How is the latched trip indication cleared?
The latched trip indication can be cleared by pressing the push-button located on the front of the card. This manually resets the trip signal and allows the system to return to normal operation.
