Functional Description

9906-124 is a Real Power Sensor Module developed by Woodward. The Real Power Sensor is used with Woodward speed controls to measure generator output power and provide a kilowatt signal to the speed control. The Real Power Sensor is a solid-state electronic device designed to be used in a prime mover control cabinet. It is contained in a metal chassis. The unit is powered independently by the speed control and has its own power supply.

The output voltage and current of the generator are continuously monitored by the Real Power Sensor using transformers. These transformers are chosen to offer 115 Vac or 230 Vac potential voltage at nominal generator voltage. At full generator power, the current transformers are chosen to deliver a secondary current of 5 A. The speed control receives a signal from the Real Power Sensor that is proportionate to the generator's output power.

Features

  • It offers the following features: kilowatt signal, readout meter drive, load sharing, speed and phase matching (SPM) synchronizer input, and isopach/droop operation.
  • The module has a kilowatt signal and readout meter drive.
  • Kilowatt readout signal, speed, and phase match (SPM) synchronizer input, and kilowatt error signal, which can be used as input to speed control for isochronous load sharing, KW droop, and base loading application, are all provided. These signals can be used as generator load signals to meters, KW limiters, or other devices.
  • To prevent damage to a control system that uses an alternator or battery-charging device, make sure the charging device is turned off before disconnecting the battery from the system. To prevent damage to electronic components caused by improper handling, read and observe the precautions in Woodward manual.
