Functional Description

128702-01 is a Recorder External Termination Block developed by Bently Nevada. The System provides continuous, online monitoring suitable for machinery protection applications, and is designed to meet the requirements of the American Petroleum Institute's API 670 standard for such systems. The system's modular rack-based design

System Applications

  • Power generation and mechanical drive service using industrial gas and steam turbines
  • Power generation and mechanical drive service using aeroderivative gas turbines
  • Hydro-electric turbines used in power generation
  • Compressors for air or process gases (radial/axial, centrifugal/positive displacement)
  • Turbo Expanders
  • Electric motors and generators
  • Exciters
  • Gear boxes
  • Pumps (centrifugal and positive displacement)
  • Fans
  • Blowers
  • Reciprocating compressors
  • Extruders and pelletizers

Reliability and Integrity

  • The System is available in a variety of redundancy configurations. This includes everything from simplex modules to dual power supplies to redundant relay modules with a variety of logical operator options for configuring complex relay logic as needed.
  • The System also provides SIL certifications (SIL 1 and SIL 2) for various monitors used in safety instrumented systems subject to Functional Safety Certification. The System includes numerous self-monitoring functions that can detect faults in monitor modules and transducers, as well as annunciate and identify problems.

Alarm Set points

  • Users can specify the level of alert for each value measured by the monitor. Furthermore, users can set Danger set points for any two of the monitor's values. The 3500 Rack Configuration Software is used to configure all alarm set points.
  • Alarms can be set to range from 0 to 100% of full-scale for each measured value. The only exception is when the full-scale range exceeds the transducer's range. In this case, the software will limit the setpoint to the transducer's range. Alarm accuracy is within 0.13% of the desired value.

System Function

The system monitor's primary functions are to provide:

  • Machine protection by continuously comparing monitored parameters to configured alarm set points in order to drive alarms, and
  • Critical machine information for both operations and maintenance personnel.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is 128702-01?
It is a Recorder External Termination Block developed by Bently Nevada.

What is the internal termination option for Standard I/O modules?
The traditional internal termination option means that field wiring connections are made directly to each I/O module. In this option, the field wiring is connected at the back of each I/O module.

What is the External Termination (ET) option for modules?
The External Termination (ET) option provides an alternative method for field wiring connections. Instead of connecting the field wiring directly to each I/O module, the ET option allows the field wiring to be landed at ET blocks.

Where can the External Termination blocks be mounted?
The ET blocks can be mounted in locations that are more convenient for access, such as on a cabinet wall. This option allows for easier access to the wiring connections.
