Functional Description

IS210SAMBH2A is an Acoustic monitoring terminal board developed by GE. It is a part of Mark VIe control system. The Mark VIe Acoustic Monitoring terminal board is a dual terminal board that provides the Acoustic Monitoring System with 18 inputs. It has two terminal points per input channel, for a total of 18 channels on 36 terminals. It also has 18 buffered outputs on 36 terminals for connecting external instrumentation to monitor the ac voltage signal that represents the combustor's dynamic pressure signals. To protect against very high frequency noise generated by external sources, and includes passive electromagnetic interference (EMI) filters.

Features

  • Eighteen acoustic monitoring signal interface channels with dedicated-dual support
  • PCB Piezotronics sensors or charge converter signal amplifier (CCSA) outputs can be supported on channels 1-9. Sensor power for PCB sensors is separate from sensor power for channels 10 - 18.
  • Channels 10 through 18 can be programmed to support PCB Piezotronics sensors or CCSA outputs. Sensor power for PCB sensors is independent of channel 1-9 sensor power.
  • Eighteen buffered outputs provide dynamic pressure signal ac signal content without dc bias voltage.
  • 36 Euro-style terminal points for customer inputs
  • 36 Euro-style terminal points for buffered outputs
  • EMI shielding for all inputs
  • EMI-filtered inputs distributed to the A and B slots

Installation

  • Hardware jumpers connect the constant current source to the PCB sensors' SIGx line. JPx is a hardware jumper on each channel (where x equals the input number). If the GE CCSA for Endevco sensors or any other voltage output device is used, the jumper should be in the CCSA position.
  • If a PCB sensor or other current output device is used, the jumper should be in the PCB position.

Operation

  • The CCSA sends an alternating current voltage signal proportional to the dynamic pressure sensed by the Endevco pressure sensors. It receives dynamic pressure directly from PCB pressure sensors as an alternating current voltage riding on a dc bias voltage.
  • Each channel provides a constant current source for the PCB sensors, which can be connected to SIGx (where x is the channel number). JPx (where x equals the channel number) is a two-pole jumper that controls the constant current power supply as well as whether RETx is connected to the power ground, PCOM. When JPx is in the CCSA position, the constant current is turned off and RETx is disconnected from PCOM.
  • When JPx is positioned on the PCB, the constant current is connected to SIGx, supplying approximately 3 mA of current to power the PCB sensor. To provide a return path for the constant current, the RETx line is connected to PCOM.
