IS215UCVEM09B is an LCI VME Controller Card manufactured by General Electric as part of the Mark VI Series used in land-marine (LM) aero-derivative control systems. A series of single or double slot, 6U high, single board computers incorporates the Innovation Series controller (SBC). The controller connects to an I/O board using the VME bus and mounts on a Versa Modular Euro (VME) rack. Local I/O is also supported by some board types via PCI Mezzanine Card (PMC) daughterboards. QNX, a real-time, multitasking OS created for industrial applications requiring high speed and high reliability, serves as the controller Operating System (OS).

Features

Using the Control System Toolbox, the controller is loaded with software tailored to its application (toolbox). The following connectivity to operator and engineering interfaces are provided through three communication ports:

  • RS-232C connections for initial configuration using the COM1 port
  • RS-232C connections for communication with distributed control systems (DCS) using the COM2 port
  • Ethernet connections for communication with Human-Machine Interface (HMI) and other control devices (such as Modbus slave)

The M09A and M09B versions of this controller employ separate DLAN daughterboards. Although the controllers are equal in terms of functionality, the proper form needs to be defined in the toolbox.

IS215UCVEM09B OPERATIONS

  • Software specific to the controller's use with steam, gas, land-marine aero-derivative (LM), or balance of plant (BOP), products is put onto it. If the collection of blocks is normal and the blocks are of average size, it can execute up to 100.000 rungs or blocks every second. The controller can synchronize to the clock on the VCMI communication board to within 100 microseconds with the aid of an external clock interrupt.
  • The VCMI communication board uses the VME bus to send and receive external data to and from the control system database (CSDB) in the controller. The process inputs and outputs from the I/O boards make up the data in a simplex system. The data in a TMR system comprises of computed outputs to be voted by the output hardware, single inputs from simplex boards, and voted inputs from the input boards. and the values of the internal states that need to be transmitted between the controllers.

CONTROLLER VERSIONS

Five controller versions are in use:

  1. The current generation controller utilized in the majority of new systems is the single-slot UCVE.
  2. The top-tier current generation controller, the double-slot UCVF, is only utilized in systems that need it.
  3. The single-slot UCVG can be used to directly replace any prior controller version without the need for a backplane upgrade and offers performance comparable to that of the UCVE and UCVF.
  4. Note Although they are no longer included with new systems, the double-slot UCVB and UCVD are still used in older systems.
  5. The UCVE and UCVF can also be used to replace controllers from older revisions, however, this requires an upgrade to the backplane. A 10Base2 to 10Base-T Ethernet cable upgrade is also necessary when replacing a UCVB.

DIAGNOSTICS

The rotating status LEDs (if supported) on the front panel stop rotating if a failure in the Mark VI controller occurs while it is executing the application code, and an internal fault code is generated. A diagnostic alarm that can be read from the toolbox is issued if the Mark VI controller fails. These diagnostics are also encoded by flashing LEDs on the front panel of the UCVB and UCVD devices. The toolbox help screen contains the error numbers and descriptions. The controller's COMI serial port can provide additional information.

INSTALLATION

The controller and a VCMI are the two components that make up a control module. Three different types of racks are available, including the GE Fanuc integrator's rack displayed in the accompanying figure and the two Mark VI rack sizes displayed in the section titled "VCMI - Bus Master Controller." Only standalone modules with remote I/O are used in the shorter GE Fanuc rack. Longer Mark VI racks that support both local and remote I/O are available. A cooling fan is positioned above or below the controller depending on which rack is being utilized. A VDSK board is also necessary for the stand-alone control module used with a GE Fanuc integrator's rack in order to provide fan power and identify the rack through an ID connection.

POWER REQUIREMENTS

  • +5 V dc, 6.6 A typical, 8.6 A maximum
  • +12 V dc, 180 mA typical, 250 mA maximum

FRONT PANEL COMPONENTS

  • Monitor port
  • Keyboard/mouse port
  • COM1 RS-232C port for initial controller setup
  • COM2 RS-232C port for Modbus serial communication

ETHERNET 1 -Primary Ethernet port for EGD communication

FEATURES

  • The card's faceplate has several ethernet ports as well as various themed connecting terminals. Some terminals have additional cable-securing areas.
  • A stretch of black lines on the PCB is used to cool the circuit board. The tower and box-style condensers are available on the board. Electrical energy fields are created using condensers. These electrical energy fields store electrical energy for subsequent usage by the circuit board.
  • It contains many terminals that are used to secure the circuit board and communicate with other circuit boards. A battery and an SD card are included in the module.
