FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION

IS200TRLYS1F is a Relay Output Terminal Board manufactured and designed by General Electric as part of Mark VIeS used in distributed control systems. Twelve relay outputs with contact voting are provided by the Relay Output with TMR Contact Voting (TRLYS1F) terminal board. There are a total of 36 sealed relays on the board, 12 in each TMR segment. When paired with TRLYS1F or TRLYS2F, the relay connections from R, S, and T output Form B (NC) votes or a voted Form A (NO) contact. You can apply either 115 V ac or 24/125 V dc. Both simplex applications and power distribution are not supported by TRLYS F boards. A regular 125 V dc or 115 V ac source, as well as an optional 24 V dc source with individual fuses, can be installed as a power distribution board option to provide field solenoid power. For ac applications where a fuse in the neutral return wire (pin 3 of J1-J4) is not desirable, it offers a single fuse on the high side (pin 1 of J1-J4) of each power distribution circuit.

The TRLY #F should be treated as the lowest replaceable unit (LRU) and replaced as a set when the diagnostic messages suggest either is involved in order to simplify troubleshooting this highly interactive board set and shorten the mean-time-to-repair. Golden boards, or a board that has previously been known to be reliable, can be used to match with the specific suspicious board in order to further isolate the failed individual board if necessary and when time and circumstances allow.

COMPATIBILITY:

TMR applications are the only ones that the TRLY 1F and TRLY 2F terminal boards support. The JR1, JS1, and JT1 37-pin D-type connectors on the terminal board accept three TMR I/O packs.

INSTALLATION:

To two I/O terminal blocks on the terminal board, directly connect the wires for the 12 solenoids. Each block has 24 terminals that may accommodate wires up to #12 AWG and is secured with two screws. Each terminal block includes a shield termination strip that is connected to the chassis ground directly to the left. If the WPDF daughterboard is installed, solenoid power for outputs 1 through 12 is provided. Customer power can also be linked to the terminal block as an alternative. The three I/O packs connected at JR1, JS1, and JT1 provide the 28 V dc power for the terminal board relay coils and electronics.

OPERATION:

  • The three I/O packs connected at JR1, JS1, and JT1 provide the 28 V dc power for the terminal board relay coils and electronics. Both ac and dc voltages are handled by the same relays. The same relays are used with various circuits on the TRLY #F terminal board.
  • The relays are driven at the frame rate by relay drivers installed on the TRLY #F. The relay outputs have a fail-safe function that, in the event that a cable is unplugged or communication with the related I/O pack is lost, votes to de-energize the relevant relay.
  • There are no other applications supported by this board. Plugs JR1, JS1, and JT1 are used to connect the three I/O packs R, S, and T to TRLY #F, where the relay control signals are routed from the three I/O packs. Each TMR segment R, S, and T is directly controlled by the appropriate signals. The I/O pack for each part provides power only for that section's relay coils, with no sharing of power with other sections.
  • There is TMR contact voting in TRLY #F. Relay contacts from R, S, and T are coupled to provide a Form A (NO) contact or a Form B (NC) output with TRLY 1F and TRLY 2F, respectively. You can use 115 V ac or 24/125 V dc. The TMR voting contact circuit is shown in the accompanying figure.

DIAGNOSTICS:

  • At the frame rate, the voltage to each relay coil is monitored and compared to the command. An alarm is latched if there is no agreement for five consecutive frames.
  • Each solenoid power supply's voltage is tracked, and if it drops below 16 V ac/dc, an alert is set off.
  • A composite diagnostic alarm, L3DIAG XXXX, is triggered if any one of the outputs becomes unhealthy.
  • The I/O pack interrogates each terminal board connector's unique ID device. A read-only chip that also contains the board's serial number, board type, revision number, and the location of the JR1/JS1/JT1 connectors is coded with the connector ID. A hardware incompatibility fault is produced when the I/O pack reads an ID chip and runs into a mismatch.
