- It can accept either one wire of 3.0 mm² (#12 AWG) or two wires of 2.0 mm² (#14 AWG), also rated with 300-volt insulation.
- Unlike the removable type, this terminal block is fixed in place, providing a more compact and robust wiring solution suitable for Simplex systems.
Installation and Wiring Considerations
- The I/O devices, such as sensors, actuators, and other field instruments, can be installed up to 300 meters (984 feet) away from their respective termination boards. This flexibility supports large and complex installations where field devices are physically distant from the control cabinet.
- The termination boards themselves must be located within 15 meters (49.2 feet) of the corresponding I/O cards inside the control cabinet. This proximity ensures signal integrity and reduces wiring complexity inside the cabinet.
- Typically, termination boards are arranged in vertical columns inside dedicated termination cabinets. This organized layout helps manage large numbers of connections systematically.
- Pre-assigned cable lengths and routing paths are used to minimize electrical interference. Careful routing is especially important for noise-sensitive signals such as speed inputs and servo control loops, which can be adversely affected by electromagnetic interference (EMI) and radio-frequency interference (RFI).
