FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION:

DS200DCFBG1A is a Power Supply Board manufactured and designed by General Electric as part of the EX2000 Series used in GE Speedtronic Excitation Control Systems. The DS200DCFB Power Supply Board (DCFB) delivers control-level power to the drive and 115 V ac power (NA) to the enclosure fans by receiving 38 and 115 V ac (24 V dc) input power from the control power transformer (CPT). Applications for IGBT drives using the DC2000, CB2000, EX2000, FC2000, GF2000, ME2000, and AC2000 use the DCFB board. If necessary, follow the instructions in the relevant drive instruction book to alter the EE parameters. The following circuits are present on the DCFB board:

  • Motor field power circuits.
  • Driver circuits for the motor field SCR gate pulse generators.
  • Circuits to monitor numerous ac line and dc motor signals, including

          − Armature current
          − Motor field currents
          − Ac line current
− Ac line voltage magnitude and phase sequence

POWER SUPPLIES:

The CPT provides 38 V ac (less than 10%) to the DCFB board (24 V dc). The outputs of 24 V dc are created by full-wave rectifying and filtering this voltage. Both the +24 V dc output and the -24 V dc output have ratings of 3 A and 1 A, respectively. The DCFB board's regulators draw 15 V dc from the 24 V dc sources. Each of the 15 V dc outputs is capable of handling 0.8 A, of which 0.25 A can be used for external loading.

The +24 V dc supply is used by the DCFB board to produce a +5 V dc, 4 A output as well. When the +5 V dc supply is regulated, the /PSEN signal on 2PL enters a TTL low state. If the +5 V dc supply is not regulated, the signal enters a high state. When set to high, /PSEN causes the Drive Control Card's (SDCC/LDCC) microprocessor to reset. The armature current feedback circuits are powered by isolated +5 and 15 V dc supplies from the DCFB board.

The fuses FU2 and FU3 shield the power supply outputs from short circuits (7 A, 2AG). Blowing fuse indication is provided for these fuses by the light-emitting diodes (LEDs) CR51 and CR55. Fuse FU1 (1/2 A, 2AG) guards the 115 V ac output. The blowing fuse indicator for FU1 is provided by neon light LT1.

VOLTAGE AND CURRENT FEEDBACK VCO CIRCUITS:

Input voltages are transformed into frequency signals by voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) circuits on the DCFB board. A 250 kHz output frequency is the standard for each VCO. The output frequency ranges from 0 to 500 kHz, depending on the input voltage. The SDCC/LDCC board receives feedback from the VCO outputs through connector 1PL in the following ways:

  • SCR bridge ac input voltage
  • Output bridge voltage
  • Motor voltage
  • Millivolt signals from field shunts
  • Millivolt signals from armature shunts

The SDCC/LDCC board receives feedback from the output bridge VCO circuit at connector 1PL, pin 13. (1PL- 13). To scale the voltage provided to the circuit, DIP switch SW4 is employed. A diagnostic signal for test point TP37 on the SDCC/LDCC board is delivered through 1PL-37 by a frequency-to-voltage reconstruction circuit. Using an ac-coupled oscilloscope, the diagnostic bridge voltage signal can be seen. Through 1PL-39, the second VCO transmits feedback about the motor voltage to the SDCC/LDCC board. To scale the voltage applied to the circuit, use the DIP switch SW5.
