  • The fault tolerance architecture of this control is based on detecting control-related faults, annunciating these faults, and allowing on-line service/replacement of modules and/or transducers to correct these faults. With a CPU fault tolerance logic of 3-2-0, the control can continue to function normally even if a CPU module fails or is removed. A 2-1-0 power supply fault tolerance logic allows the control to function normally even if one of the power supplies fails or is removed. To meet the application reliability requirements, I/O fault tolerance can be customized.
  • Three isolated kernel sections (A, B, and C) in the TMR Main Chassis each house a Kernel Power Supply module, a CPU module, and four VME slots for I/O modules. Nine electrically isolated data paths are provided by a single motherboard. Each CPU has two data paths: one to its VME modules and one to each of the other CPU modules. There are six paths between CPUs, which allows for redundancy and error checking.
