IS230TCATH1A is a Core Analog (TCAT) terminal board assembly module developed by GE under the Mark VIe series. Additional I/O terminals for the PCAA module are provided by the Core Analog (TCAT) terminal board. It manages signals spread to one or three PCAA modules. There are twelve seismic inputs, twelve LVDT inputs, twenty-four 4-20 mA inputs, and two magnetic pulse rate inputs. All twenty-four 4-20 mA inputs have their own 24 V dc power source, with half on TCAT and the other half on an adjacent JGPA board.

IS230TCATH1A Features

  • TCAT outputs are made up of three voted signals ranging from 4 to 20 mA. 120 pluggable Euro-style box terminals provide field wire terminal points. A set of 48 terminals, a set of 24, and the second set of 48 terminals make up the terminal grouping.
  • 12 extra 24 V dc outputs for 4-20 mA devices, as well as shield wire terminals, are provided by a JGPA board adjacent to the TCAT field terminals. TCAT connector P3 or P4 provides power to JGPA, which is a diode-or of power from the attached PCAA modules.

TCAT is mounted to a metal rear base with an insulating plastic carrier underneath. There are screws at the top and bottom of the field terminals, as well as a third screw in the middle of the board.

Wiring

The TCAT terminal board has 120 Euro-style box terminals that can be plugged in. A JGPA board, which mounts next to the TCAT terminal board and employs Euro-style box terminals to provide 48 shield termination points and twelve 24 V dc output terminals for 4-20 mA transmitters, is mounted next to the TCAT terminal board.

IS230TCATH1A Operation

TCAT allows input signals to be fanned to one or more PCAA modules. To assure reliability in redundant applications, this is done via high-reliability passive circuits. TCAT accepts 28 V dc power from PCAA modules linked to it. The power sources or the diode provide redundant power input for the 24 V dc outputs. TCAT has a separate voltage regulator for each 24 V output and thermal shutdown for branch circuit safety.

Configuration

Analog Input - The TCAT can communicate with a variety of 4-20 mA transmitters. Each input contains a jumper next to the terminals that determines whether the return terminal is grounded or floating. The jumper's default state is floating or open. TCAT + JGPA supplies twenty-four 24 V dc terminals, one for each 4-20 mA transmitter input.
