FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION:

IS230TBAIH2C is an Analog I/O Terminal Board manufactured and designed by General Electric as part of the Mark VI Series used in GE Speedtronic Gas Turbine Control Systems. The 10 analog inputs and 2 analog outputs of the Analog Input/Output (TBAI) terminal board are supported. Two-wire, three-wire, four-wire, or transmitters with external power can all be connected to the 10 analog inputs. The 0-20 mA or 0-200 mA current settings for the analog outputs are available. To guard against surge and high-frequency noise, inputs, and outputs incorporate noise suppression circuitry. For connecting to the I/O processors, TBAI has three DC-37 pin connectors built within the device. Using a single connector, simplex applications are supported (JR1). All three connectors are capable of supporting TMR applications.

The input signals for the R, S, and T controls are fanned to the three connections in TMR applications. TMR outputs combine the three connected output drivers' currents and calculate the combined current using a measuring shunt. The total current signal is then presented by TBAI to the I/O processors for regulation to the specified setpoint.

MARK VI SYSTEMS: TBAI supports simplex and TMR applications in the Mark* VI system and collaborates with the VAIC processor. The VAIC can be linked to one or two TBAIs. TBAI is connected to three VAIC boards in TMR systems.

INSTALLATION:

Directly attach two I/O terminal blocks mounted on the terminal board with the input and output wires. Each block has 24 terminals that may accommodate wires up to #12 AWG and are secured with two screws. Each terminal block has a shield terminal attachment point right next to it. TBAI can accommodate the following analog I/O types:

  • Analog input, two-wire transmitter
  • Analog input, three-wire transmitter
  • Analog input, four-wire transmitter
  • Analog input, externally powered transmitter
  • Analog input, voltage ±5 V, ±10 V dc
  • Analog output, 0-20 mA
  • Analog output, 0-200 mA

OPERATION:

All of the transducers have a 24 V dc power source provided by TBAI. Jumpers (J#A and J#B) can be used to configure the inputs as current or voltage inputs. One of the two analog output circuits can be configured to be 4-20 mA or 0-200 mA, while the other can be programmed to be either. Each 24 V dc power output is capable of constantly delivering 21 mA and is safeguarded from the operation into a short circuit. Transmitters and transducers can be separately powered or can be powered by the 24 V dc source in the control system. The current output type is chosen by jumper JO. Diagnostics keep an eye on each output, and if a fault cannot be fixed by a CPU command, a suicide relay in the I/O controller disconnects the relevant output.

CONFIGURATION:

The terminal board is configured by jumpers. For the location of these jumpers, refer to the installation diagram. The jumper choices are as follows:

  • Current input or voltage input can be chosen using the jumpers J1A through J8A.
  • Whether the return is linked to common or left open is determined by jumpers J1B through J8B.
  • Input current is chosen between 1 mA and 20 mA using the jumpers J9A and J10A.
  • Whether the return is linked to common or left open is determined by jumpers J9B and J10B.
  • Output 1 is adjusted to 20 mA or 200 mA by jumper J0.
