Functional Description

IS2020LVPSG1AA is a Power Supply Module developed by GE. It is part of Mark VI control system.  This power supply unit is conveniently mounted on the side of VME control and interface racks, ensuring easy accessibility while optimizing space utilization within the rack system. It supplies various DC voltage outputs to the VME backplane, including +5V, ±12V, ±15V, and ±28V. These voltage outputs cater to the diverse power requirements of the connected devices and components within the rack system.

Features

  • Input Voltage: Operating with a 24VDC input voltage, this power supply module ensures compatibility with standard power sources.
  • Output Rating: Delivering robust performance, it offers an output rating of 400W, facilitating the smooth operation of connected systems.
  • +28V PSA Outputs: Equipped with five +28V PSA outputs, this module provides ample power distribution capabilities for various applications within the control system.
  • +28V Remote Outputs: Additionally, it includes three +28V remote outputs, further enhancing its versatility and adaptability to diverse system requirements.
  • PS335 Output: While not featuring a PS335 output, the module compensates with its other output capabilities to meet system demands effectively.
  • Status ID Output: Similarly, the absence of a Status ID output is offset by its other functionalities, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  • Optional 335 V DC Output: Additionally, the power supply offers an optional 335V DC output, specifically intended for powering flame detectors connected to the TRPG. This option enhances the versatility of the power supply, allowing it to support a wider range of equipment and applications.
  • Input Voltage Selection: Users have the flexibility to choose between two supply input voltage options. The first option is a 125V DC input supply, which is powered from a Power Distribution Module (PDM). Alternatively, there is a low voltage version available for 24V DC operation, catering to different power supply configurations and preferences.
  • Versatile Power Distribution: With its comprehensive range of output voltages and optional features, the Mark* VI VME rack power supply ensures efficient and reliable power distribution throughout the VME control and interface racks. It facilitates the smooth operation of various control and monitoring systems, contributing to the overall performance and functionality of the rack system.

Installation

  • Mounting: The power supply unit is affixed to the right-hand side of the VME rack using a sturdy sheet metal bracket. This positioning ensures stability and accessibility for maintenance and operation purposes.
  • Connection Points: Various connection points are located at the bottom of the power supply unit, including the DC input, 28V DC output, and optional 335V DC output. Additionally, a status connector is present in newer designs, providing essential diagnostic information.
  • PSA and PSB Connectors: At the top of the assembly, two connectors labeled PSA and PSB are situated. These connectors interface with a cable harness responsible for distributing power to the VME rack, ensuring efficient power delivery to all components.
  • 28V DC Power Modules: The power supply incorporates five 28V DC power modules, each dedicated to supplying power to specific sections of the VME rack, denoted as sections A, B, C, D, E, and F. Moreover, the P28C output or PS28 at the bottom of the unit can be utilized to power external peripheral devices, providing additional flexibility in system configuration.
  • Peripheral Device Powering: To enable the powering of an external peripheral device, a specific jumper plug on the bracket, positioned to the left of the rack, must be adjusted from the Normal position to the Isolated position below, facilitating seamless integration and operation of external equipment.
  • Fan Usage: The fan included with the power supply unit is activated only when the controller is mounted within the rack. It is powered from the top connector on the bracket, located on the left side of the rack, ensuring adequate cooling and optimal performance of the system components.
