FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION:
5466-336 is a Single Input/Output Module manufactured and designed by Woodward as part of the 5400 Series used in Turbine Control Systems. Smart series remote I/O module provides different kinds of modules like analog input, output, analog input/output, digital input, output, digital input/output, and relay. All are connected by RS-485 Modbus communication. Each module provides a different number of input/output channels for the user’s choice- for instance, 8, 16, and 32. The smart series IO module is controlled by the host command. After receiving commands sent by the host, remote IO modules start responding. The protocol used in between host and modules is Modbus RTU. Furthermore, to have a more efficient application, a variety of baud rates (1200, 2400, 4800, 9600, 19.2k, 38.4k, 57.6k, and 115.2k) are also available for the user’s selection.

What is a Single Input/Output (I/O) Module?
A Single I/O Module is a component designed to manage the exchange of data between a system and external devices. It handles both input signals from external sources and output signals to external components.
How many ports does the module have, and what communication protocols do they support?
The module has a total of four ports. Ports 1 and 2 support RS-232 communication at a baud rate ranging from 110 to 38.4 Kbaud. Ports 3 and 4 support RS-232, RS-422, and RS-485 communication (software selectable) at a baud rate ranging from 110 to 57.6 Kbaud.
What are the supported software protocols?
The module supports the following software protocols- Modbus RTU, Modbus ASCII, and Woodward-specific service interface. These protocols facilitate communication and data exchange between the module and other devices or systems that are compatible with these protocols.
