Functional Description

5466-258 is a Discrete I/O Module developed by Woodward. The modules are inserted into card guides in the control's chassis and connected to the motherboard. Two screws, one at the top and one at the bottom of the front panel, hold the modules in place. There are also two handles at the top and bottom of the module that, when toggled (pushed outward), move the modules out just far enough for the boards to disengage the motherboard connectors.

Installation

  • Connect the Input Module to the appropriate network and 24 Vdc power and mount it on the DIN rail. If desired, the inputs can be wired using the internal +24 V connections or an external 24 V power source. Connect the discrete inputs.
  • Set the module address one and ten rotary switches according to the application setup. The system allows for the replacement of faulty nodes in real time. The network cable connections must be kept intact when replacing a node.
  • A faulty node can be disconnected from the network by removing both terminal blocks from their headers and the node from the DIN rail. The replacement node's address switches should be set to match those of the faulty node.
  • After that, the replacement node can be mounted on the DIN rail and the terminal blocks pushed into the headers. To restart communications with the controller module and clear the no message fault, the node must be reset using the application program.
