Functional Description

5464-643 is a Discrete Input Module developed by Woodward. Field switches and relays provide data to the module. Field wiring is isolated from the MicroNet circuitry by optical isolators in each channel, and the state of each discrete input is passed to the buffers via an optoisolator. The data for each channel is then obtained by the CPU via the VME interface. If all 48 DI modules in a chassis have Fault LEDs on during normal control operation, check the chassis' CPU module for a failure.

Installation

  • The modules are inserted into card guides in the control's chassis and connected to the motherboard. Two screws, one at the top and one at the bottom of the front panel, hold the modules in place. There are also two handles at the top and bottom of the module that, when toggled (pushed outward), move the modules out just far enough for the boards to disengage the motherboard connectors.
  • Each 48 Ch DI Module is connected to two 24 Vdc Discrete Input/Output FTMs or Discrete Input (With LEDs) FTMs via two low density discrete cables. The FTMs provide access to all I/Os on the module, and the channels are labeled sequentially to correspond to their software locations (for example., discrete input 1 on the FTM will be discrete input 1 in the application software). The FTM connected to J1 handles channels 1-24, while the FTM connected to J2 handles channels 25-48.
