Functional Description

3500/32 is a 4-Channel Relay Module manufactured by Bently Nevada as a part of the 3500 series used in machinery conditional monitoring. The 4-Channel Relay Module has four relay outputs and is a full-height module. In any of the slots to the right of the Rack Interface Module, any number of 4-Channel Relay Modules can be installed. Each of the 4-channel relay module's outputs can be individually programmed to conduct the required voting logic. "Alarm Drive Logic" is included in each relay on the 4-Channel Relay Module. Alarm Drive Logic is programmed using AND and OR logic and can use alarming inputs (alerts and dangers) from any monitor channel in the rack, or any combination of monitor channels. The 3500 Rack Configuration Software is used to program the Alarm Drive Logic to match the application's specific requirements.

Output LED Specifications

  • When the module is operating properly, the OK LED is illuminated.
  • Transmit and receive LEDs. Flashes to show that this module is properly communicating with the other modules in the rack.
  • To show that the Relay Channel is in an alarm condition, the CH ALARM LED is illuminated.

Rack Space Requirements

  • The front slot of Main Module 1 is full height.
  • Full-height back slot for one I/O module.

Relay Specifications

  • Single-pole, double-throw (SPDT) relays are one type.
  • Arc suppressor with 250 Vrms that is epoxy-sealed and placed as standard by environmental sealing
  • 100,000 cycle contact life at 5 A, 24 Vdc, or 240

Environmental Limits

  • Operating Temperature: -30°C to +65°C
  • Storage Temperature: -40°C to +85°C
  • Humidity 95%, non-condensing

FCC Compliance and Certifications

Part 15 of the FCC Rules applies to this device. The operation is subject to two conditions:

  • The device may not generate harmful interference.
  • Accept any received interference, including interference that may cause undesirable operation.

Installation Checklist

  • Division 2/Zone 2 requirements (including ATEX/IECEx and North American Zones and Divisions) are met by the 3500 monitors ordered with hazardous approvals options (01 & - 02). The relays do not comply with the increased spacing requirements for higher voltages that are specified by the Division 2 / Zone 2 regulations. Because of this, the voltage range of relays ordered with hazardous area approvals options (including country-specific hazardous area approvals options) has historically been lower than that of relays ordered without these choices. Higher voltages would be against the hazardous area approvals option's hazardous area certificates.
  • The restricted voltage is required by the functional safety certificate if it is a component of the functional safety (SIL) system. Functional safety (SIL) systems cannot use higher voltages.
  • Field wiring can be connected to the relays in a way that exposes wires to potential human contact. At high voltages, this can be a shock hazard. Customers must only apply the prescribed voltages to the relays. Regarding the shock threat, the proper safety measures must be performed.
