System field change capability

  • The purpose of the field change capability is to make the required changes easy and provide appropriate safeguards. Capability for change or adjustment is required in 3 areas: the control algorithm constants such as references and gains, the position servos which need calibration, and sequencing logic which frequently requires minor changes during the installation and start-up. The following safeguards are provided:
    • Requires entering a unique password
    • Limits rate of change of constants if turbine is running.
    • Permits servo calibration only in 'off' and 'crank' modes of gas turbine control.
    • Permits sequencing changes only if turbine is stopped.
    • Limits ranges on critical parameters.
  • The control constants can be changed by requesting the 'control constants' display, and entering the identification code. The constants are displayed in engineering units. The operator selects the page containing the constant to be changed, and then places the cursor on that constant. Pressing the INCR or DECR soft switch will then cause the sglected constant to increase or decrease. The constants are stored in 'battery-backed ram (BRAM) which is normally downloaded from PROM upon powering up, unless the FREEZE variable is set.
  • If the FREEZE variable is set, then upon powering up the BRAM is preserved, saving the changed values. The FREEZE variable can be set or cleared from the 'control constants' display. There is a sequencing editor in the Mark IV panel to facilitate making changes to the sequencing logic.
