FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION:

DS3800HPIB1F is an Operator Panel Interface Module manufactured and designed by General Electric as part of the Mark IV Series used in GE Speedtronic Gas Turbine Control Systems. An HPIB card interfaces with the switches and Communicator [Cl, and the Controllers, [RI, [Sl and [Tl. When a switch is pressed a beeper provides an audible acknowledgement of the command and a red LED begins to blink. The operator then has three (3) seconds to confirm the command by pressing the EXECUTE button in the lower left-hand corner. If this button is not pressed in time, the red LED will stop blinking, and the control will wait for a new command.

This procedure protects the control against accidental pressing of operator switches. Functional groups of switches, such as the operator selection switches and the EXECUTE switch, are color-coded to highlight the commonality of the control function. All switches in the 7 X 4 matrix interface with [Cl through the HPIB card, except for three switches. The stop switch is placed on the second row on the far right-hand side and interfaces with.[R], [S], and [T] for added reliability when initiating a normal shutdown sequence. Two (2) switches on the fourth row on the far right-hand side are connected to [RI, [Sl and [Tl, via the HPIB card.
