IS200TRPGH1A is a Gas Turbine Primary Trip Termination Board manufactured by General Electric as part of the Mark VI Series used in gas turbine control management systems. It is controlled by the primary turbine protection controller (VTUR or PTUR) TRPG contains nine magnetic relays in three voting circuits to interface with three trip solenoids (ETDs). The TRPG works in conjunction with the TREG to form the primary and emergency sides of the interface to the ETDs. TRPG also accommodates inputs from eight flame detectors for gas turbine applications. There are two types of boards as follows.

  • The H1A and H1B versions for TMR applications have three voting relays per trip solenoid.
  • The H2A and H2B version for simplex applications has one relay per trip solenoid

Control Compatibility

The TRPG works with the VTUR board in the Mark VI system and supports simplex and TMR applications. TRPG is connected to the VME Rack, which houses the VTUR board, using cables with molded plugs.

Installation

The three trip solenoids' wires should be connected directly to the first I/O terminal block. The second terminal block should receive the wires for the (if used). Connect and power J3, J4, and J5 plugs. The J1 plug should be used to connect the 125 V dc power for the trip solenoids. Use the J2 socket to send power to the TREG board.

IS200TRPGH1A OPERATIONS

The main trip function is performed by the I/O pack/board by operating the TRPG relays, which trip the main protection solenoids. In TMR applications, a relay ladder logic two-out-of-three voting circuit is used to vote the three inputs in hardware. To determine whether to energize or de-energize the relay coil contact status, the I/O pack/board continuously monitors the current flow in its relay driver control line. For diagnostic purposes, supply voltages are tracked. The diagnostics check each TRPG relay's normally closed contact to make sure it is functioning properly.

Flame Detectors

The primary protection system monitors signals from eight Geiger-Mueller® devices using the TRPG primary trip terminal board. The flame detector charges to provide voltage in the absence of a flame. The detector charges up to a certain level in the presence of flames before discharging through the TRPG. The frequency of discharge rises as flame intensity does. The detector's principal protective system changes the energy released upon discharge into a voltage pulse. The range of the pulse rate is 0 to 1,000 pulses per second. All three modules receive these voltage pulses.

Diagnostics

The TRPG diagnostics are run by the I/O board. These include feedback from the trip solenoid relay driver and contact, solenoid power bus, and the excitation voltage for the flame detector being too low or excessive. If any of the signals becomes abnormal, a diagnostic warning is generated (beyond limits). The terminal board's connectors JR1, JS1, and JT1 each have their own ID device that the I/O board queries. If a discrepancy is found, a hardware incompatibility fault is generated. The terminal board serial number, board type, revision number, and plug location are all encoded on the read-only ID device chip.
