FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION:

IS200ERRBG1A is an Exciter Regulator Redundant Backplane manufactured and designed by General Electric as part of the EX2100 Series used in excitation control systems. In EX2100 TM regulator control systems, the Exciter Redundant Regulator Backplane (ERRB) is utilized. All of the printed circuit boards installed inside the ERRB are connected by the ERRB. For boards put inside of it, it offers 3U or 6U, 96-pin, or 128-pin DIN backplane connectors. Through these connectors, power is sent to the mounted boards. For each installed board, the ERRB has a board identification (ID) serial bus. The boards attached within the ERRB have a board ID device that is pre-programmed with the board type, hardware revision, and barcode serial number. The board ID device communicates with the backplane slot-specific control.

APPLICATION DATA

In EX2100 TM regulator control systems, the Exciter Redundant Regulator Backplane (ERRB) is used. The ERRB connects all of the printed circuit boards that are mounted within it. For boards mounted within it, it offers 3U or 6U, 96-pin, or 128-pin DIN backplane connectors. These connectors distribute power to the mounted boards. The ERRB includes a serial bus for board identification (ID) for all installed boards. A board ID device is programmed with the barcode serial number, board type, and hardware revision on the boards mounted within the ERRB. The board ID device connects to the control for the specific backplane slot.

  • Application Control Layer board (ACLA)
  • Two Digital Signal Processing boards (DSPX)
  • Two Exciter Regulator Input/Output boards IS200ERIO (ERIO)
  • Exciter Power Supply Module IS200EPSMG2 (EPSM)
  • IGBT Exciter Regulator Interface and Dynamic Discharge Board (ERDD)
  • Exciter Regulator Options Card (EROC) (EISB)

CONNECTORS:

  • J1F1 - Fan 1 power
  • J1F2 - Fan 2 power
  • J16 - Exciter Dc Feedback board (EDCF) power
  • J3 - ERBP Exciter Regulator Backplane (ERBP) power
  • J4 - A keyboard interface
  • J5M2 - IS200 ERRR Exciter Regulator Redundant Relay board (ERRR) power

IS200ERRBG1A FEATURES:

  • The EX2100 is a digital control system that interfaces fully with the Mark VI for new and retrofit steam, gas, or hydro applications. It is also capable of integrating power island and balance-of-plant management.
  • This system is built using GE-designed integrated hardware and software for perfect integration and a true system solution. The Mark VI is a centralized control system that sends and receives data from the larger system via termination boards. Users can obtain this data via linked operator interfaces (HMIs) developed from PC workstations running Windows.
  • The module was developed to provide connectivity between all boards mounted within its frame. It also provides power to externally placed modules and boards using cable connectors.
  • In redundant applications, the ERRB repeats the M2 and C control parts of the regulator. The ACLA, ERIO, EPSM, DSPX, ERDD, EROC, and EISB boards are used in the M2 and C sections.
  • In rare situations, the ERRB may include more than one of these boards. The ERBB frame features a fan built into the back surface to improve airflow; this enables for faster heat dissipation and maintains the optimum operating temperature for the board components.

IS200ERRBG1A BOARD REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE:

  • Check that the exciter in which the ERRB is located has been de-energized.
  • Open the exciter control cabinet door and ensure that all electrical circuits are turned off before touching them.
  • To facilitate reconnection, ensure that all cables are labeled with the correct connector name, as marked on the boards.
  • Disconnect all cables from the ERRB and the boards that are attached to it (such as the fiber-optic cables from EISB if present, the Ethernet cable from ACLA, and all connections from ERIO and EROC).
  • Take out all of the boards from the ERRB. The ACLA and filler plate are joined and emerge as one.
  • Disconnect the ERRB terminals TB1 and TB2's dc link power input.
  • Remove the board rack mounting screws and remove the board rack (with the ERRB mounted) from the control module.
  • Replace the mounting screws and tighten the board rack (which contains a new ERRB) into the control module.
  • Check that the jumpers on the new ERRB are in the same position as the jumpers on the removed ERRB.
  • Place all of the boards in their respective ERRB slots and tighten the mounting screws. Reconnect and tighten all cables to the correct ERRB connectors.
  • Reconnect all cables to the boards mounted within it (for example, fiber-optic cables to EISB if present, Ethernet cable to ACLA, and all connections to ERIO and EROC), as well as the fan power plugs.
  • Reconnect the ERRB terminals TB1 and TB2 to the dc link power input. Close the door to the exciter control cabinet.
