Functional Description

IS2020LVPSG1AD is a VME Rack Power Supply Module developed by GE. It is a part of Mark VI control system. LVPS, functioning as a Power Supply Board, adheres to specific voltage recommendations and requirements crucial for safe and normative circuit board operation. The board, with its specific voltage requirements, hardware components, and detailed part number breakdown, plays a crucial role as a VME Rack Power Supply. While functional, its status as somewhat obsolete prompts the consideration of updated replacements for enhanced performance and compatibility within the system

Features

  • Overcurrent Protection: If an overcurrent condition occurs on an output, the voltage on that output will fold back as necessary to maintain a constant current limit output. However, for outputs other than the 5 V supply, this condition may not be detectable at the supply level. As a result, the green LED indicator will remain illuminated. Detection of low output voltage due to excessive current is typically performed at the system level through power supply voltage monitoring.
  • Additional Fault Detectors: In newer designs, over-temperature monitoring of the output modules and a current limit detector on the optional 335V supply have been incorporated. These additional fault detectors may cause the red LED indicator to illuminate when an output is in current limit. However, the red LED will also extinguish when the output voltage returns to normal, indicating that the fault condition has been resolved.
  • Special Case: 5 V Current Limit: The 5 V current limit presents a special case due to the presence of a 5 V under-voltage detector. If the current limit causes the 5 V output voltage to fold back below the under-voltage threshold, all other outputs will be disabled until the 5 V output voltage returns to a voltage above the threshold. This ensures that other outputs are not affected by an under-voltage condition on the 5 V supply, maintaining system stability and reliability.

Product Attributes

  • Input Voltage: 24VDC
  • Output Rating: 400W
  • Redundant Operation: Not supported
  • Status ID Output: Not available
  • PS335 Output: Not supported

Hardware Components and Board Classification

  • VME Rack Power Supply Classification: The hardware components embedded within the base board  distinctly classify it as a VME Rack Power Supply. Notable among these components are 5 +28V PSA Outputs and 3 Additional +28V Remote Outputs.
  • Unique Hardware Components: Unique to this modified printed circuit board are hardware components such as its special hardware version, which refers to the sheet metal assembly affixed to its backside for mounting purposes. However, it's essential to note that this specific assembly version is not intended for DIN-rail mounting.
