Functional Description

IS200EXMDG1B is an exciter MD feedback board developed by GE. It is a part of EX2100 excitation system. The EX2100 Excitation Control (EX2100 or exciter) generates field excitation current to control the ac terminal voltage of the generator and/or the reactive volt-amperes. It is a complete static excitation system for generators on new and retrofit steam, gas, and hydro turbines.

Features

  • This board has two male pins and two female connectors, as well as two metal oxide varistors.
  • This model includes several pin connectors of varying sizes, as well as a ninety-degree angled connector mounted along one edge of the board. There are several codes along the edge of the board, as well as the board's alphanumeric catalog number. The board's catalog number is extremely important, especially when it comes to ordering the part again.
  • Two metal oxide varistors (MOVs), connectors, and a relay are included on the board. Two of the connectors on the board are Augat connectors, one of which is a two-by-three connector and the other a three-by-three connector. The model has a set of two make pins as well as a set of two female connection points.
  • Exciter MD Feedback Board has two female connection points and two vertical pin connectors with varying sizes.

Characteristics

  • The Exciter MD Feedback Board is a functional module used in generators to provide feedback to the exciter control system. The main function of this board is to convert the DC output signal of the exciter's rotating diodes to a proportional AC signal. This signal is then fed back to the exciter control system to regulate the exciter field current.
  • The exciter field current is critical to maintaining the generator's output voltage, and it must be regulated accurately. The feedback provided by the Exciter MD Feedback Board ensures that the exciter field current is maintained at the proper level, which in turn ensures stable and reliable generator output.
  • The board has several key features that contribute to its overall functionality. These features include a microprocessor-based design, which provides high accuracy and fast response times, as well as built-in diagnostic capabilities that help identify and isolate faults.
  • The board also includes several input and output signals, including a DC input signal from the exciter's rotating diodes, an AC output signal proportional to the input signal, and various control signals to regulate the exciter field current.

Exciter Software

  • The exciter software, which resides in the controllers, is configured and loaded from the toolbox. On the toolbox screen, the software is represented by control blocks that are linked together to show the signal flow. The generator field, as well as stator currents and voltages, are measured and fed into the control system.
  • The ac regulator is selected in normal operation. The PT and CT generator voltages and currents are wired to the EPCT board, which acts as a signal conditioner to isolate and scale the signals. The controller is then fed the conditioned signals. These signals are used by software conversion algorithms to calculate system variables for use by the regulator, limiter, and protection functions.

Product Attributes

  • These boards are linked to three Exciter main input/output boards (EMIO, redundancy control) and one EMIO board (simplex control) via the Exciter backplane. On the circuit board, there are control relays for the flash relays 53A and 53B, as well as control relays for the magnetization relay KDEP.
  • The EXHS regulates the exciter Deactivation Board and sends a deactivation status signal to the EMIO. The Crowbar status signal is conditioned on EXHS before being sent to EMIO by the EXRE Magnetization Control Board.
  • The three contact inputs from 41, 53A, and 538 on the EXHS are powered by 70 V DC and their feedback is monitored. An exciter source powers the contacts. The status signal generated is sent to EMIO.

More information about the component is available in GEH-6632 data sheets. WOC is happy to assist you with any of your automation requirements. Please contact us by phone or email for pricing and availability on any parts and repairs.
