Functional Description

DS200GASQF1AEL is a General Electric Software EPROM designed and developed by GE. It is a part of the Mark V control system. EPROM contains software or firmware that is essential for the operation and control of equipment or processes within the Mark V system. It's common for such EPROMs to play a critical role in ensuring the functionality and reliability of control systems like Mark V. These EPROMs may contain control algorithms, configuration data, or other software components necessary for the proper operation of the system.

HMI Components

  • The primary function of CIMPLICITY HMI is to display turbine status screens, enabling operators to monitor unit(s) with a typical 1-second refresh rate. However, CIMPLICITY cannot be used for configuring the turbine control.
  • The central component of the system is the HMI Server, which serves as the hub, facilitating data exchange between the Unit Data Highway and the Plant Data Highway (exclusive to Mark VI). The server is responsible for data support and system management, as well as handling device communication for both internal and external data interactions.
  • HMI Viewer is responsible for visual functions and acts as the client of the server. It incorporates operator interface software, enabling operators and maintenance personnel to view screen graphics, data values, alarms, trends, issue commands, edit control coefficient values, and access system logs and reports.
  • Turbine Control Interface (TCI) is used to display high-speed data updates (faster than 1 second) and to configure and control a turbine unit. TCI allows remote access to turbine data and offers various functions, including real-time device communication for Mark IV and V, turbine control configuration for Mark IV and V, data collection and command forwarding for Mark VI, and maintenance of a data dictionary for Mark IV and V.
  • TCIMB (Turbine Control Interface/CIMPLICITY Bridge, formerly known as CIMB or CIMBridge) acts as an interface connecting CIMPLICITY and TCI. It enables CIMPLICITY to gather data and alarms from a turbine unit and forwards points (for Mark IV, V, and V LM) and alarms (for all) to CIMPLICITY.
  • In the case of Mark VI, the System database is used to manage and define signals for the control system. It serves as a central repository for system alarm messages and their definitions, defines mappings between controller software and physical I/O, and handles Ethernet Global Data (EGD) exchanges. While the database is essential for system configuration, it is not required for the system's operation.
  • Depending on the system's size, these components can either be combined into a single PC or distributed across multiple units. The modular nature of the HMI system allows for incremental expansion to adapt to changing system requirements.
